1What this agreement covers
MoodPlanner is an app for keeping a mood diary and planning events. These terms are the agreement between you and Andrii Shkurupii ("we") about how you may use the app and the server behind it (together, the "Service").
Alongside these terms, our Privacy Policy explains in more detail what data we process and why.
2Accepting these terms
The first time you open the app, it asks you to read these terms and the Privacy Policy and to accept them, and it goes no further until you do. When they change in a way that matters, it asks again. If any part of them does not suit you, please do not use the Service.
3Age
The Service is for people aged 13 and over. Younger users cannot register: the server checks the date of birth and refuses — at ordinary sign-up, at a first sign-in through Google, and when the date is edited in the profile. That last one matters as much as the first: a floor you can step around by editing afterwards is not a floor.
Under 16, a parent or guardian has to agree. Before an account under 16 can keep the diary, the app asks a parent or guardian to confirm, on the same phone, that they are the child's parent or legal guardian and agree to the processing of the child's mood entries, including showing those written in a group to its members. Sixteen is the highest age of digital consent in the EU, so this applies everywhere. Whoever confirms as a parent or guardian confirms that they are one; doing so falsely breaches these Terms.
Your date of birth also decides your role:
- 13 to 17 — the "child" role. You can keep the diary, join groups and add personal events, but you cannot create a group or add an event to one.
- 18 and over — the "adult" role, without those limits.
The role is derived from age rather than written once and left alone, so an account becomes an adult one on its holder's eighteenth birthday, with nothing to do on your part.
We show no advertising, use no analytics, and share no data with ad networks. The app has no in-app purchases.
4Your account
Using the Service requires an account. Signing up asks for a name, a date of birth, an email address and a password; alternatively you can sign in with a Google account.
The date of birth is not a formality: your role in the Service — child or adult — is derived from it, and it is recalculated continuously, so an account becomes an adult one on the user's eighteenth birthday rather than the next time the profile is edited. Please give it truthfully.
You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for everything that happens in your account. If you believe someone else has gained access, change the password and let us know.
5What the Service does
The app lets you:
- record a mood for a day and add a note to it;
- create events with a date and time;
- form groups and see one another's days inside a group;
- view a month's statistics — the mood ring, the day-by-day chart, the firefly jar;
- put widgets showing your month on the home screen;
- receive a daily reminder and rate the day straight from it;
- with separate consent, export events to Google Calendar.
We may change, add to or withdraw features. We will announce anything substantial in the app or by email.
6Groups and sharing
A group is a shared space. A member of a group can see the other active members' moods and notes for each day, along with their monthly summaries. That is not a side effect — it is what a group is for, and it is worth keeping in mind when deciding what to write down.
When you create or join a group, the app asks you to agree that your entries within that group become visible to its other members, and you cannot create or join one without agreeing. Leaving a group withdraws that agreement and ends the visibility in both directions.
Entries do not disappear with the group. When a group is dissolved, when you are removed from one, or when you leave of your own accord, your moods are not deleted — they stay in your own personal history and simply stop being shared. There is one exception: if you already have a personal entry for the same day, the group one is dropped, since two entries cannot share a day.
Creating a group makes you its owner, and you are responsible for whom you invite.
Hiding and reporting. You can hide a member, so that their entries stop appearing for you; they are not told. You can report a member, or one of their entries, that breaks section 11. Reports reach only us, and we do not tell the member who sent one. We look at every report and may remove content, remove the member from the group or close the account; when we act against someone, we tell them by email what we decided and why.
7Your content
Your moods, notes, events, group names and profile picture belong to you. We claim no ownership of them.
You grant us a limited right to store, process and reproduce that content strictly as far as running the Service requires: showing your data back to you, syncing it between your devices, and showing it to the members of your groups. We do not use your content to train models, we do not sell it, and we do not pass it to third parties beyond what the Privacy Policy describes.
8Data and protection
In short, how storage works (the Privacy Policy has the detail):
- Passwords are never stored in plain text.
- Dates of birth are stored encrypted on the server.
- Profile pictures are encrypted both on the device, with a key held in the Android Keystore, and on the server.
- Sign-in tokens live in the device's encrypted storage.
- The app itself can be locked behind a passcode and biometrics, under Privacy.
No system is perfectly secure and we cannot promise your data will never be affected. We take reasonable measures; we do not promise the impossible.
9Permissions the app asks for
The app asks only for what particular features cannot work without:
| Permission | What for |
|---|---|
| Internet | syncing with the server |
| Notifications | the daily reminder to rate your day |
| Exact alarm | so that reminder arrives at the time you set |
| Start after reboot | so the reminder survives the phone restarting |
| Camera | only for scanning a group invitation's QR code |
A profile picture is chosen through the system photo picker, so the app never needs access to your whole gallery.
10Google Calendar
Exporting events to Google Calendar is a separate feature you switch on yourself. It requests the calendar.app.created scope — the narrowest one available: the app can see and change only the events it created itself. Your other calendars stay invisible to it. You can revoke the access at any time, in the app's settings or in your Google account.
11Things you may not do
While using the Service, you agree not to:
- impersonate anyone or create accounts in another person's name;
- reach other people's data by any route the Service does not provide;
- upload unlawful content, sexual imagery, violent material, or anything that infringes someone else's rights;
- use the Service to harass, intimidate or bully other members of a group;
- attempt to break into, overload or probe the server, including by automated requests made outside the app;
- work around technical limits, such as the number of events allowed per day.
12Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app: Profile → Settings → Account settings → Account → Delete account. To confirm, the app asks for your password, or — if you signed in with Google and have no password — for the word DELETE.
The deletion is real, not a flag:
- your profile, picture, events, moods, group memberships and sign-in tokens are removed;
- groups you created are deleted along with the account, since a group without its owner has nobody to administer it;
- the other members' moods in those groups are not lost — they move into their authors' own personal history, under the rule in section 6.
Data is removed from the live database immediately. Backups may hold it for a while longer before they are overwritten.
We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms or if the law requires it.
13The Service is not medical care
MoodPlanner is not a medical device, does not diagnose anything, and is no substitute for professional advice. Mood statistics are a diary and a way of noticing your own patterns, not an assessment of your mental health.
If you are struggling, please talk to a doctor or a therapist. If life is at risk, call your local emergency number — 112 across the EU, 911 in the US, 103 in Ukraine — or a suicide prevention line (988 in the US, 7333 in Ukraine).
14Availability
We do our best to keep the Service running, but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted. The server may be unavailable because of updates, faults, or circumstances outside our control. The Service is provided "as is".
15Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect damages, lost profits or lost data arising from your use of the Service.
Nothing here limits liability for harm caused intentionally, or takes away consumer rights the law of your country gives you.
16Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. Where a change is substantial we will announce it in the app at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date means accepting the new version. If you would rather not, you can delete your account.
17Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of Ukraine. Disputes are settled where the law of Ukraine provides, unless mandatory consumer-protection rules of your own country say otherwise.
These terms are written in Ukrainian and English. If the two versions differ, the Ukrainian one prevails.
